I began my yoga journey almost 10 years ago, when I was in college, and finding yoga so early has profoundly impacted my life and the directions it has taken since then! Through yoga I learned how to relax, and how to turn off after a busy stressful day and go to sleep. I learned that I had spent many years breathing back to front, and how to look after my body and my mind.
I started by attending Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Iyengar yoga classes, shifting to a personal practice whilst at university in Sussex, and then after graduation shifting again between different styles. Whilst I attend various styles of class, my own personal practice and teaching style is Hatha yoga – where I started and always return.
After graduating from university, I completed an anatomy and physiology course and started my training with the British Wheel of Yoga on their 500 hour training course in London. The training took place over 2 and a half unforgettable years with the brilliant and experienced teachers Mary Mackie and Leslie Isaacson, and I completed my level 4 diploma in yoga teaching with them.
I have since taken further studies with Rainbow Yoga for teaching kids and families led by the inspirational Ieva Wildlovebloomer, covering some acroyoga, Thai yoga massage, and partner yoga, and hope to start teaching in schools from January.
Other dreams for the future include learning to teach Thai yoga massage – stay tuned!
When I am not teaching yoga, I am teaching chess to juniors! I teach clubs in primary schools during the week and run private classes in the evenings and at weekends. Click here for further information.
